Jeff Melvin, 53, Columbia City, passed away at 8:29 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 19, 1969, in Plymouth, to Jimmie F. Sr. and Martha "Marty" Melvin.

Jeffrey was passionate about mushroom hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with his canine companion "Nubby."

Survivors include his mother: Martha J. Melvin; his best friend: "Nubby"; two sisters: Robin (Dennis) McClain, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; and Debra (Ronald) Darr; four brothers: Benjamin (Annette) Melvin; Jimmie (Linda) Melvin Jr.; and Joshua Melvin, all of Columbia City; and Mitchell (Nancy) Melvin, Fort Wayne; three nephews; five nieces; and three great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his father: Jimmie F. Melvin Sr.

The family will announce a celebration of life service at a later date.
