Notes:	... State Police said Gillis W. Arend, 26, Columbia City, was killed late Monday night when a Norfolk & Western Railway freight train going about 60 mph struck his car broadside. The car was sitting with lights out on the tracks at a Whitley County road crossing about a mile north of from Indiana 14 near Columbia City, police said. Gillis was the son of Clarice A. (Jackson) Arend Sloan, daughter of Gillis and Madele (Muir) Jackson. She married Dudley D. Sloan on April 8, 1965.
