Notes:

Anthony L. "Tony" Leedy, 59, a native of Etna Troy Township, Whitley County passed away peacefully among family and friends, May 1, 2013, at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida.

A beloved son of Kenneth R. Leedy and Lona M. (Gaff) Leedy was born November 6, 1953 in Wolf Lake, Indiana. He attended school at Etna-Troy Grade School, Columbia City High School, and Ball State University where he was a brother of the fraternity Lambda Chi Alpha.

After college he moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he was a bar manager at the Summit Club from 1985 to 1995; and then a buyer for 10 years at Sand Point Greenhouses. He always dreamed of moving to Florida and his dream finally came true in 2005 when he moved to Fort Lauderdale with his good friends Michael Roffelsen and Clark Rogers. He was employed at Needlepoint Originals on Las Olas Boulevard from 2006 to 2012.

Tony was gifted with an eye for beauty, both in his surroundings and people. He touched so many lives with his charm, humor, and grace. He brought joy into the hearts of everyone he met. He always loved playing games of any kind, a true competitor at heart. If you were ever stumped on a topic, he knew the answer.

Tony also was active in playing softball in Fort Lauderdale as shortstop and first baseman. He was inducted as an honorary member of the SFAAA Hall of Fame in 2013.

He is survived by his sister, Marlene (Daryle) Hill of Big Lake; 6 nephews and 4 nieces; 20 great nieces and nephews; 2 great-great nephews; and his feline companion, Smitty.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Raymond Eugene Leedy; and a sister, Joan Joy (Leedy) Butler.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 11 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with the family receiving friends after 12 Noon. A private burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Pierceton.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Hospice by the Sea, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Rd., Boca Raton, Florida 33486.
