Notes:	The Post & Mail October 7, 2008: The graveside service for John F. Montz, 59, was held Friday afternoon, Oct. 3, 2008 at Eberhard Cemetery with Alan McLearn-Montz as officiant and other family sharing remembrances. John was born Sept. 6, 1949 in Fort Wayne, a son of Vern H. and Phyllis J. (Corbin) Montz. His formative years were spent in Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1967 and Earlham College in 1971. On April 12, 1980 he married Connie Whitaker. Their daughter, Laura, was born June 28, 1981. The family resided in Indiana, Florida and Virginia. John was employed at Miller Brewing Company. Other surviving family members include: son-in-law, Jason Fuller; grandchildren, Faith Elizabeth, Kalei and McKenzie Fuller; siblings, Nancy Minick, Dorothy (Robert) Hively and Alan (Brenda) McLearn-Montz; nieces and nephews, Christopher (Mary Jo) Minick, Amy Minick, Ryan Hively, Amanda and Jesse McLearn-Montz; a paternal uncle, Carl (Ina) Montz; in-laws, Bill and Mildred Whitaker, Steve (JoAnn) Whitaker and their children, Joshua Whitaker and Crystel Hoover. Mr. Montz died Sept. 26, 2008 in Ridgeway, Va. Local arrangements were completed by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
