Sandra Sue Johnson, 75, of Columbia City, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at her home with family by her side. Born September 4, 1946 in Wolf Lake, she was the daughter of Robert H. and Louise M. (Blew) Helfrich.

She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1964. Sandy began her work career as a Nurse's Assistant and worked at Acres Gas Station. After meeting Kenneth Creighton Johnson Jr. at Buck Lake Ranch in Angola, the two were married on October 25, 1965 in White Pigeon, Michigan. In 1972, Sandy began working at Scott's Grocery Store in Columbia City and remained in the Deli department until the store merged with Kroger. She would go on to retire from Kroger in 2009.

Sandy would join Ken going to the Eagles and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She loved her grandchildren, animals, and had been a gifted seamstress making clothing for her and her two daughters.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Deb and Scott Fairchild and Janet and Wayde Draper; granddaughter, Shelby Fairchild; grandson, Jordon Fairchild; grandson, Jeremiah Draper; her beloved dog and kitties, Annie Mae, Felix, and Winnie; grand-dogs, Cooper, Bella and Sebastian; and grand-kitty, Oliver. Along with her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her husband in 2017, Ken Johnson, Jr.; and sister, Kay Helfrich.

A graveside service will take place 10am Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at Union Township Cemetery in Coesse where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Pastor Tom Beers will be officiating. Memorial donations may be given in her memory to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana. Donations may be mailed to DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
