Notes:

Sharion LaRue, 77, of Columbia City, died at 2:24 a.m. Monday, December 14, 2020, at Parkview Randallia, Fort Wayne.

She was born June 20, 1943, in Jeff, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Ancle B. and Maudie (Smith) Minnix. Her formative years were spent in Kentucky. In 1955, the family moved to Columbia City, where she graduated from Columbia City High School.

On April 20, 1963, she married Glen D. LaRue. They made their home in Columbia City, then Collins, New Haven, Churubusco, and in 1970, Columbia City.

She worked for the former Blue Bell, Columbia City, and from 1975 to 1980, the Columbia City Joint High School cafeteria. In 1988, she went to work for the Columbia Locker until 1994 when she joined Whitley County Home Health and Hospice. She retired in 2002.

A caring and loving person, her priority in life was taking care of her family and husband. As grandchildren came along, they became her pride and joy. Through the years, she enjoyed camping, with her favorite spot being Grayling, MI. An avid shopper, she was always in search of that perfect piece of jewelry.

She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, Columbia City.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Glen; two daughters, Monica (Daniel) Richards and Cynthia K. Wilkinson, both of Columbia City; two sons, Christopher (Amie) LaRue of Larwill and Thomas (Michelle) LaRue of Columbia City; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maxine Kemery of Columbia City.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Minnix; three brothers, Mendell, Howard, and Ancle Minnix.

A private graveside service will be held at the Catholic Cemetery, Columbia City. Arrangements by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.

Preferred memorials are to Columbia City Fire Dept. Christmas Candy Fund.
