LARRY R. FARBER, 63, a resident of Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, died at 11:15 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2006 at his home. He had been in failing health for the past three years.

He was born March 8, 1943 in Columbia City a son of Lawrence E. and Ruby L. (Hearld) Farber. He was a lifelong resident of Whitley County and spent his formative years in Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1961.

On April 21, 1962 he was united in marriage to Nancy A. Kneller. They have always made their home in the Columbia City area, moving to their present home in July 2001.

He was employed at Columbia Die Mold and Precision Plastics. In 1981 he co-founded Indiana Die Molding, which he co-owned and operated until his retirement in 2003.

His memberships include St. John's Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and chairman of the congregation. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping, hunting and playing cards and was an avid Purdue fan.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Nancy; four sons, Bradley (Lisa) Farber of Greenville, James (Brook) Farber, Mark Farber and Daniel (Arlyn) Farber, all of Columbia City; Cristina (Matthew) Rider of Columbia City; 14 grandchildren; two sisters, Rosalie Kay Kleespie of Crooked Lake and Kerry Barr of Hermiston, Oregon; a brother, Terry Farber of Columbia City; and his mother-in-law, Mary Kneller of Columbia City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Christina Farber and a granddaughter, Becca Farber.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 2465 West Keiser Road, Columbia City with Rev. David Mommens, church pastor, officiating. The burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
