Notes:

Karen Estlick Sangillo, 72, died Thursday, March 13th at her home in Columbia City.

She was born on September 19, 1941 in Columbia City to Robert and Natalie (Hoover) Estlick. She was baptized at Columbia City United Methodist Church. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City, where she graduated in 1959 from Columbia City High School. She attended Ball State College and Indiana University and graduated from International Business College in Fort Wayne.

In 1963 she was united in marriage to Robert Rigg, and they had two children, Kristin Tamara Rigg and Mark Robert Rigg. In 1981 she married Tom Sangillo. They resided in New Jersey, Minneapolis and Atlanta before retiring and returning to Columbia City.

She enjoyed much success in her life as a salesperson. Her career was highlighted as the Sales Manager for Graphics 150 Corporation in New Jersey, where her primary responsibilities were focused on Fortune 500 pharmaceutical companies. Her keen literary interests later resulted in her opening and operating Second Hand Prose, a classy little bookstore in Boonton, New Jersey. Her customers constantly benefited from her creative talents as well as her communication and organizational skills. In both her professional and personal life, she was known as a pragmatic thinker and problem solver.

Her greatest joy in life was being with family and friends. Planning and participating in family get-togethers and reunions were a complete joy to her, which always included competitive card games and her homemade "nuts and bolts." Her enthusiasm and skill in planning always made the times seem too short for all involved. Everyone eagerly looked forward to the next gathering, whether at her home or at the Jersey shore. She enjoyed her weekly Mah-jongg games in Atlanta, and very much relished the renewed relationships she had with her Columbia City friends upon her move back to her hometown.

Her husband, Tom, and her children and grandchildren were the biggest beneficiaries of her enormous heart, quick wit, loving generosity, and big and soft hugs. She was a valued confidante to both her friends and family, and will be missed by all those who knew, loved and appreciated her.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Tom Sangillo; three children, Kristin (Jim) Ronald Rigg of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Rev. Mark (Suzanne) Rigg of West Lawn, Pennsylvania and Marisa (William) Sangillo Thompson; 6 grandchildren, Andrew Ronald, Simon Ronald, Maren Ronald, Mary Rigg, Paul Rigg and Brighton Thompson; a brother, Ty (Mary) Estlick of Edina, Minnesota; a sister, Tamara (Michael) Guilday of Pensacola, Florida; and two aunts, Joann Williams of Columbia City and Lois Blanding of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert Estlick (2010) and Natalie Estlick (2011).

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to ALS Association.

July 20, 2007 profile update: I have twins who will be 40 and five grandchildren (one set of twins).
I am enjoying retirement and sell new Vera Bradley on E-Bay - come up and stay with Cindy Hoffman and go at least twice to the VB warehouse sale in May.

Have learned to play mah jongg and am going on m-j cruise with 10 women this Fall. Husband & I do a lot of traveling between here and Philly and Mineapolis - where the kids and grands are.

This is a great site - just learned about it from my sister Tam who also lives in Atlanta.
