ADELE M. KOONTZ, 78, passed away Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 in Fort Wayne. Born in Columbia City, Ind., she was a daughter of the late Howard G. and Violet (West) Sewell.

Adele was an executive secretary for various companies and the Veterans Administration for 26 years, along with being co-owner, with her husband Robert, of the Washboard Coin Laundry for 30 years. She also worked at Meijers as a Starbucks Barista for five years.

She was an avid reader and an expert textile artist including tailoring, embroidering, quilting and doll making.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and sister to: sons, Eric N. Klingler of Christmas, Fla., Mark A. Klingler of Fort Wayne, Robert F. (Carol) Koontz of New Alexandria, Pa., Michael F. Koontz of Portland, Ore., Kenneth Lanning of Kokomo, Jeff (Judy) Snyder of Oldsmar, Fla.; daughters, Linda Pedigo of Lafayette, Lucia (Robert) Sprinkle of Fort Wayne; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and brother, James (Irma) Sewell of Ponce, Puerto Rico.

Adele was also preceded in death by husband, Robert P. Koontz; as well as nine brothers and sisters.

Memorial Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept 19, 2017 at D. O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, with calling from noon until the service.

Memorials may be made to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.
