Notes:	Monday, January 9, 2006 1:31 PM CST Gerald E. Schrader Feb. 10, 1939 - Jan. 6, 2006 Gerald E. Schrader, 66, a Columbia Township resident, died at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne where he was admitted on Wednesday. Born on Feb. 10, 1939, in Columbia Township, Whitley County, he was a son of Samuel R. and Helen E. (Shearer) Schrader. A lifelong resident of Columbia Township, he graduated from Columbia City High School. In 1961, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. He was honorably discharged Oct. 31, 1967. A farmer, he was employed at Briggs and Peabody Co-ops, retiring in 2002 from Ag Plus Surviving relatives include three sons, Thad (Annette) Schrader of Fort Wayne, and Brad (Laurie) Schrader and Ryan Schrader, both of Indianapolis; and six grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Hire and Joyce Pauline Schrader. The funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City, with the Rev. Jim Clifford officiating. Burial is at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. For those who wish, memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
