Marilyn Ann Nicodemus, 79, of rural Churubusco died at 11:15 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2018 at Miller’s Oak Pointe, Columbia City where she had been a resident since February 28, 2018.

She was born May 20, 1938 in Whitley County, Indiana a daughter of Samuel M. and Edna (Hartman) White. Her formative years were spent in Thorncreek Township. She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1956.

On September 19, 1959 she was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Nicodemus. They made their first home south of Coesse. They later moved to Collins, Huntington and then in 1967, Huntertown. In 1971, they moved to their farm in Smith Township, Whitley County.

In addition to working with her husband on their dairy farm and raising their children, she worked for Supermarket Services for 10 years and Dorothy’s Hallmark Store, Columbia City.

Remembered as an excellent cook, she also enjoyed gardening both flower and vegetable. She was fond of all the animals around the farm especially her cats. She took pride in raising the calves for their dairy operation. Her priority was her family and she loved her time with her grandchildren.

She was a member of the Churubusco Church of the Nazarene, the Tawasi Extension Homemakers Association.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; three children, Karen Ann (Tim) Blake, Merrie Kaye (Richard) Parish and Randal M. (Sharon) Nicodemus, all of Columbia City; eight grandchildren; one step-grandchild; eight great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Sharon (Rex) Platt of Angola and Patty (Dennis) Cook of Columbia City.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brenda Lee Nicodemus.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 noon until the service Saturday at the funeral home. The family request casual attire is worn.

Preferred memorials are to Heartland Hospice.
