Von E. Fisher, 76, of Fort Wayne, died at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center where he was admitted on Monday.

He was born August 5, 1937 in Columbia City, Indiana a son of Marshall Earl and Alice Marie (Blanchard) Fisher. He attended Columbia City Schools until 2nd grade when his family moved to Thorncreek Township. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1955.

On June 11, 1960 he was united in marriage to Sharon A. Sickafoose. They made their home in Columbia City later moving to Washington Township. In 1971 they moved to their home in Tunker. Mrs. Fisher died December 29, 1989.

He was employed with Kroger in Columbia City for 12 years, 7up for three years and began working for Food Marketing in 1964 until his retirement in 1999.

On November 27, 1991 he was united in marriage to Sandra (Weiss) Freeman. They have made their home north of Fort Wayne.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Sandra; three children, Lori (Perry) Ramsey of Columbia City, Timothy (Patty) Fisher of Fort Wayne and Joetta (Sean) McGowan of Kokomo; three step children, Brian (Pam) Freeman of Osceola, Kristy (John Wiard) Freeman of Fort Wayne and Melissa (Aaron) Estes of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Justin Ramsey, Tyler Ramsey, Brittany Prickett, Stephanie Bishir, Krystal Brazel and Trenton Brazel; six step grandchildren, Izabell Estes, Lillian Estes, Madison Freeman, Lauren Freeman, Aubree Wiard and Alyssa Miller; four great grandchildren; four half sisters, Janet Krienbrink of Roanoke, Karen Grant of South Whitley, Patty Goldsby of Columbia City and Alberta Krider of Columbia City; and his beloved dog, Brandy.

He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jace Franklin.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in St. Catherine Nix Settlement Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Lymphoma Society or American Cancer Society.
