RONALD G. WOLL, 72, of Columbia City, died at 12:30 a.m. Sunday, January 20, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital, Fort Wayne where he was transported on Monday, January 8th from Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.

He was born November 11, 1935 in Wolf Lake, Indiana a son of Melvin H. and Evelyn M. (Peters) Woll. His formative years were spent on a farm in Etna Troy Township. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1953.

In August 1954 he enlisted in the United States Navy. He retired from active duty as Yoeman Chief on October 3, 1973.

On December 16, 1956 he was united in marriage to Velma R. Blanchard. They made their first home in San Diego, California for a month. With military transfers, they made their home in New Orleans, Iceland, Great Lakes, IL, Azores and Washington D.C. before returning to Columbia City in 1973.

In addition to general farming, he was a clerk and carrier for Columbia City Post Office for 20 years.

His church affiliation was Presbyterian.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Velma; two sons and a daughter, Gregory E. (Sheri) Woll and Jeffery L. (Paula) Woll and Kellie C. Woll, all of Columbia City; four grandchildren, Alainna R. Martin, Jaima L. Woll, Sarah M. Woll and Daniel G. Woll; two brothers, Don D. Woll of Columbia City and Larry Woll of Fruita, Colorado; and a sister, Kay N. Kyler of Columbia City.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2008 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Ross OÂ'Dell and Rev. Thomas Beers officiating. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Whitley County Youth for Christ, Trinity Evangelical Presbyterian Church Youth Group or Columbia City Church of the Nazarene Youth Group.
