George L. Schalk Sr., 75, of Angola [Indiana] died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at his home.

Mr. Schalk had been a salesman for Ethel Corp., Bonnell Aluminum, Intercraft Industries and General Telephone.

He had served as administrator for the Moose Lodges in Lafayette, Ind., Angola, Ind., and Clearwater, Fla. He was a life member of the Angola Moose Lodge where he served as Past Governor and was the lodge's only Pilgrim.

He was a Past Deputy Supreme Governor of Mooseheart, Past District President of the Indiana Moose Lodge, former member of the Angola Fire Department, life member of George Anspaugh VFW Post, life member of Angola American Legion Post 31, and a past member of the Angola Elks Lodge.

Mr. Schalk was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was born June 19, 1935 in Fort Wayne to Louis August and Clara Effie (Pardue) Schalk. He married Laura "Ny" Dunham on April 5, 1958. She survives in Angola [Indiana].

Also surviving are a son, George Schalk Jr. of New York City, New York; a daughter, Barbara Ann and Steve Cleverly of Angola; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Weicht Funeral Home in Angola with members of the Angola Moose Lodge officiating. Burial will be in South Scott Cemetery in Steuben County.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials are to Cameron Hospice & Home Health or the Angola Moose Lodge.
