Sandra Black, 76, of Roanoke, IN, died Monday, May 15, 2017, at 10:12 a.m. at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Black grew up in Laud and graduated from Jefferson Center High School. She retired from Pathfinder Services, in Huntington, where she had worked for more than 20 years. She had also worked at Lincoln Financial for a year and at Crystal Café, in Huntington, from 1972 until 1979. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Moose and Elks.

She was born Nov. 5, 1940, in Fort Wayne to Jack Dean Abdell and Mary Alice Smith McNabb. She married Jack Kenneth Black on Nov. 20, 1960, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 9, 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline Lee (Erland) Maki, of Fort Wayne; two sons, Michael (Cynthia) Black, of Roanoke, and Charles Kenneth Black, of Fort Wayne; two sisters, Mary Lou Keele, of Columbia City, and Karen Giant, of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Calling is Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 45 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 207 N. Main St., Columbia City. A service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, May 19, 2017, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Greenhill Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home.
