Donna Jeanne (Holbrook) Targgart, went to be with the Lord at 1:58 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Parkview Whitley Hospital. She was born June 9, 1933, in Warsaw, Indiana to the late Angus Fred and Mayme Fem (Grubbs) Holbrook.

In 1936 her family moved to Columbia City. She attended West Ward Grade School and graduated with the class of 1951 from Columbia City High School. She liked music and was member of the marching and concert bands, and in 1950 she was nominated “Homecoming Queen”.

After graduation, Donna was employed at Bloom’s Law Office (2 years), Weatherhead (14 years), and retired from Northeastern REMC in 1995 after 25 years. She was a member of American Business Women and was nominated “Woman of the Year” in 1990. As a coordinator of the Weekenders clothing, she won national top sales awards.

In 1953, Donna met the love of her life, Everett Curtis Targgart and they we married on June 25,1954. The couple enjoyed dancing, traveling and the celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2004 and were married for 56 years.

Donna attended the Columbia City United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for over 40 years. In her retirement, she enjoyed scrapbooking, genealogy, needle craft and painting.

Donna is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Kelly) Taulbee ; son, Dan (Anita) Targgart ; grandsons, Steve (Tiffany) Taulbee, Jason (Angela) Taulbee and Joel (Sarah) Targgart; and great-children, Mackenzie, Madelyn, Austin, Nell and Eli. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; sister, Marilyn Shenfeld; brothers, Larry Kenneth Holbrook and Charles Dean Holbrook.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, May 28, 2022 at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City with visitation beginning at 9 am. Burial will follow at Merriam Christian Chapel Cemetery.

Preferred memorial donations to Columbia City United Methodist Church prayer room.
