Robert (Bob) Glenn Parrett, Sr., age 86 of Churubusco, IN passed away at 8:51 am on Wednesday August 15, 2018 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born on May 13, 1932 in Columbia City, he was the son of Charles Edward and Josephine Pitman (King) Parrett.

Bob grew up in Columbia City and was raised by his aunt Gertrude Coy. He attended local schools and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1950. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Airforce and also played on the Airforce Basketball Team, in addition to being a Golden Glove Boxer. He lived most of his life in Whitley County, spent 10 years in Fort Wayne, 10 years in Wabash and returned to Whitley County in 1988.

Bob worked at International Harvester, Fort Wayne for 18 years, owned Parrett's Home Remodeling for 20 years, and spent several years at Preferred Tech before retiring in 1995. He then worked part-time at Reelcraft, Inc., Columbia City.

Bob attended the Free Methodist Church, Columbia City and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.

Survivors include his children Steven (Mary) Parrett of North Carolina, Monica (Jon) Trietsch, Robert Parrett, Jr., and Trudy (David) Miller, all of Churubusco, Randy (Tamara) Parrett, Katherine Pease, and Connie (Roger) Johnson, all of Columbia City, Neil (Julie) Parrett of Fort Wayne, Tina (Curtis) Traxler of Albion, Ronald (Lisa) Parrett of Sidney, IN, and Rhonda Nearhouse of Willford, AR; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother Carl (Sandy) Parrett of Richmond, IN.

He was preceded in death by parents, adoptive mother Gertrude Coy, son-in-law Greg Nearhouse, several siblings, and grandson Curtis Parrett.

Funeral services for Bob will be held at 4:00 pm on Monday August 20, 2018 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling two hours prior to service.

Memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be made to the Donor's Choice.
