Notes:	Helen E. Carter, 82, of Columbia City, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at Parkview Oaks where she had been a resident since September 30th. She was born August 18, 1931 in Fort Wayne, Indiana a daughter of Guy and Mabel (Graves) Putman. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City. She graduated from Columbia City High School. In addition to working at Blue Bell for eight years, she was employed at Lyall Electric for 26 years. From 1956 until 1992 she lived at High Lake then moving into Columbia City. Her memberships included Eagles #1906. Surviving relatives include three sons, Steve (Mary) Parrett of Nevada, Terry (Julie) Carter of Wolf Lake and Jeff Carter of Kendallville; a step son, Gary Carter of Oklahoma; five grandchildren; two step grandsons; eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a step son, David Carter; a grandson; two sisters, Edith Gregg and Betty Ballard; and a brother, Bob Putman. There will be no visitation or service. The burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to ALS. Arrangements are being completed by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
