Notes:

James Lewis (Jim) Souder, of Vancouver, WA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Jim was 93 yrs old. and died of complications due to Parkinson’s Disease. When he trusted Jesus Christ to be his personal Lord and Savior in 1975, his eternal home in heaven was secured.

Jim is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lois Jean Souder; daughter Theresa Ann Gordon, son-in-law Walter Gordon of Ridgefield, WA; son James Anthony Souder, daughter-in-law Pamela Souder of River Falls, WI; son Steven Michael Souder, daughter-in-law Lynnette Wilhardt-Souder of Costa Mesa, CA. Jim is also survived by his sister, Betty Lou Grable of Columbia City, IN.

Jim was born on Feb. 6, 1929, in Fort Wayne, IN, to Mary and Gerald Souder. He graduated from Columbia City High School in 1947. After serving in the United States Air Force for 21 years, he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1968. Jim then moved his family to Phoenix, AZ, where he became a letter carrier for the US Postal Service. In 1984 he moved to Vancouver, WA, with the exception of returning to Arizona for a short number of years before making Vancouver his home. He worked locally for Dorsey Bus Company, Vancouver Ford, and taught drivers training for both Ridgefield and Prairie High Schools. He also enjoyed serving a number of years as a Chaplain for Nursing Home Ministries of Vancouver.

Our dad loved baseball and coached Little League and Junior High baseball teams in Arizona. He was an avid Los Angeles Dodger fan until he found himself adopting his home state team, the Seattle Mariners.

Jim’s grandchildren include Brandy Lynn (Schubert) and Tony Orozco of Battle Ground, WA; Daniel Scott and Bessie Schubert of Vancouver, WA; and MIchael Anthony and Natalie Schubert of Ridgefield, WA. Also surviving Jim is granddaughter, Stephanie (Souder) and Cedric Bernier of Scottsdale, AZ; and grandson, James Caleb and Rebecka Souder of Boise, ID; Travis Michael and Sarah Souder of Mission Viejo, CA; Amanda Souder of Newport Beach, CA; Ashley and Caitlin Wilhardt of Costa Mesa, CA; are the last surviving grandchildren.
