WILLIAM E. ANDERSON, 79, of Columbia City, died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, December 16 while moving snow at his home.

He was born April 23, 1928 in Claypool, IN a son of Earl M. and Mary Catharine (Blain) Anderson. He started his elementary education in North Webster and later the family moved to Butler. During his high school years the family moved to Columbia City where he graduated from Columbia City High School in 1946.

After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served until 1948. In July 10, 1949 he was united in marriage to C. Elaine Dunn. They made their home in Columbia City. Mrs. Anderson died June 21, 2001.

He was employed by Whitley Products from 1948 to 1990 where he worked as an estimator. He was a member of First Church of God, Columbia City.

He is survived by two children, Kerry (Deb) Anderson, Fort Wayne and Connie Boggs of Columbia City; three brothers, Don (Betty) Anderson, Columbia City, Robert (Mary) Anderson, Sacramento, CA, Roger (Jeanette) Anderson, Omaha, NE and four grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law Jerry Boggs.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 21, 2007 at First Church of God, Columbia City with Rev. Steve Dunn and Rev. Penny Mosher, officiating. The burial will be in South Park Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Hospice Home.
