Born in Maimi, Florida, son of Owen Hugh & Marie A. (Bennett) Jones.Pvt. in U.S. Army. Worked as a newspaper editor. Obituary in Post & Mail January 14, 1995, Pg 2. Buried Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City, Ohio.

Obituary of wife:

Jones, Joyce Raibley age 80 of Tipp City, Ohio passed away February 22 at her residence. Born August 28, 1929 in Warrick Co., IN daughter of the late Oscar and Mabel (Mason) Raibley.

Joyce graduated from Hanover College in 1951 and married Woodfin Bennett Jones on August 24, 1952 and enjoyed 43 years of marriage before his death in 1995.

A former resident of Greenville, Oh where her husband Woody was managing editor of the Greenville Advocate and later editor of the Dayton Journal Herald.

Through the years Joyce enjoyed seasonal work with Spring Hill Nurseries; volunteering with Stouder Hospital; geneology; library book clubs; circle meetings; leading her adult Sunday school class at the Tipp City United Methodist Church where she was a member; and helping with the funeral dinners. She especially loved watching her grandchildren grow up and filling them with love.

Surviving Joyce are her children Carrie (Gene) Ebert, Pickerington, OH; Lee (Terri) Jones, Tipp City; Allan Jones, Tipp City; and Rebecca Jones Baker, Tipp City. Nine grandchildren Angela Ebert (Darren) Henderson, Maj. Daniel (Stefanie) Ebert USAF, Matthew Baker, Elizabeth Baker, Kristina Ebert (Andy) Brook, Alyssa Ebert, Candice Jones, Eric Baker, and Corrie Jones. Great grandchildren Clay Baker and Sarah Brook. Numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

Funeral services 2:00 pm Friday February 26, 2010 at the Tipp City United Methodist Church, 8 West Main Street. Reverend Bonita Wood officiating with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery, Tipp City.

Visitation will be held Thursday in the church sanctuary from 5 to 8 pm. She was truly loved by her children and their families and will be so very missed.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of Miami County or the Tipp City United Methodist Church memorial fund in Joyce's memory. Arrangements entrusted to Frings and Bayliff Funeral Home, 327 West Main Street, Tipp City, OH 45371.
