Florence May Argerbright, 82, of Columbia City, died at 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 at The Oaks in Columbia City.

Born in Columbia City on Jan. 10, 1922, she was a daughter of Bert and Mary (Robbins) Walker. She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1939 and spent her lifetime in the Whitley County area.

Her marriage to Donal G. Argerbright was on Jan. 25, 1941 in Columbia City and she assisted her husband on the family farm in Washington Township. He preceded her in death.

A cook at Crossroads Inn Restaurant for 10 years, she retired from the Whitley County Sheriff's Department as cook.

She was a member of Washington Township Willing 20 Extension Homemakers Club.

Survivors include a son, James A. (Julie) Argerbright of Columbia City; daughters, Lydia Ann (Jerry) Beehler of Angola; Mary Lou (William) Metzger of Monticello; and Peggy Joan Argerbright of Monticello; eight grandchildren five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Helen (Kenneth) Cozad of Columbia City.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Argerbright and brothers, Paul and Robert Walker.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. The funeral service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Phillip Blake officiating. Burial is at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorials may be given in Mrs. Argerbright's memory to the American Diabetes Association, the Arthritis Foundation, or the Activities Department of The Oaks. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
