Notes:	James L. Mettler, 78, Claypool, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday [March 14, 2000] at Parkview Memorial Hospital, Fort Wayne, after becoming ill at his home in Claypool. He was born in Columbia City to Floyd and Edna Leer Mettler, and married Patricia Knisely on Dec. 24, 1955 in Fort Wayne. She survives. Mr. Mettler was a mechanic and diesel technician for Kosciusko County Highway Department, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of Plymouth Moose Lodge. He lived in Whitley and Kosciuko counties most of his life. Survivors include a son, Jeffery L. Mettler, Detroit, Mich., and a daughter, Juanita L. (Thomas) Wickey, Plymouth; seven grandchildren; four brothers; and two sisters. Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Thursday at Mentone Cemetery with the Rev. Donald Poyser officiating. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Thursday at King Memorial Home, Mentone.
