Notes:

The Rev. Robert K. Moog, 37, of Washington, D.C, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday [November 7, 1956] at The General hospital in Washington, following a critical illness of 18 months, according to information received early Thursday by the J. A. DeMoney & Son Funeral home. The body is to be brought to the local funeral home for services, time for which has not yet been set.

From information received here, death followed an illness extending over a period of 15 years. The minister, although a native of Payne, Ohio, spent most of his boyhood years in Columbia City and graduated from the local high school with the class of 1937. He was a member of the CCHS state championship debating team.

His mother is Mrs. Opal Bernice Klinger Moog, widow of Walter Moog. She resides at 114 North Oak street but is now visiting at Lagro, Fla. Surviving besides the mother are the widow, Mrs. Alice Ruth Moog, 3902 C Street Southeast, Washington, D.C; three daughters, at home, namely Carol Joan, aged 5, Gloria Jean aged 3, and Nancy Lynn aged 1 year; two brothers, John M. Moog of 316 South Chauncey street and William W. Moog, 210 East Market street, both of Columbia City; two sisters, Mrs. John R. (Vivian) Winebrenner, Churubusco, and Mrs. Howard A. (Agnes) Ernst, 114 North Oak street, Columbia City.

The minister was born at Payne, Ohio, Feb. 1, 1919 to Walter William and Opal Bernice Klinger Moog. When he was five years old his parents moved from Payne to Churubusco. Three years later the Moogs established residence on a farm in Thorncreek township, later lived on the Squawbuck road. The family became Columbia City residents in 1931. The father died May 1, 1942.

The Rev. Moog was married Aug. 29, 1943 at the Thorncreek Baptist church to Alice Ruth Hougendoubler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard L. Hougendoubler of Washington township. The couple went to housekeeping in Warsaw [Indiana]. In 1945 they moved to Washington, D.C, where he engaged in newspaper work.

For the past 17 years he had served as assistant pastor of an interdenominational church in the national capital. The cause of death has been officially established as paralysis agitans. While it is understood that funeral services will be held in Washington, plans for memorial services here and burial following will be announced later.
