Notes:	L. Frances Beard, 80, of rural Huntington [Indiana], a Whitley County native, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Parkview Hospital. She had worked for Peabody Library as assistant librarian until 1942, for Weatherhead for four years, for Ion Capacitor for 15 years, and was a member of Faith Chapel United Methodist Church in Goblesville where she had served as financial secretary for 20 years and held various other church offices. Surviving are her husband, Arlo; daughters Amy L. Vehling of Indianapolis [Indiana] and Ann L. Watkins of Washington, Ind.; a sister, Ethel Worrick of Lafayette, La.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Dickerson. Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, Goblesville [Indiana], with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery, Huntington. Memorials are to the church. Published in The News-Sentinel, Fort Wayne, Indiana, January 5, 2000. Note: Parents were Ada Delpha Gaerte and Lee Royal Dickerson. Frances, as she was known, was born 24 March 1919 in Columbia City, Whitley, Indiana. She died 4 January 2000 at age 80 in Fort Wayne, Allen, Indiana. 0n Christmas Day, 25 December 1938, she married Arlo L. Beard. He was the son of Amon E. Beard and Alice Goodrich. He was born 28 March 1914 in Whitley county, Indiana and died 4 April 2008 at age 94 in Washington, Daviess, Indiana. On 8 April 2008, he was buried at Beech Grove Cemetery, Huntington, Huntington, Indiana. Children: Amy Lee Beard born 1946; married William Edward Vehling. He was born 9 September 1945 (died 2 December 2003 at age 58); and Ann Lyn Beard born 1950; married Barry Phillip Watkins.
