Richard L. Brindle, 66, 1119 Prospect Blvd., Waterloo, Iowa, died Sunday morning, Feb. 26, at his home. Mr. Brindle had
been ill for the past three weeks, and his death was attributed to cancer.

A native of Delphos, Ohio, Mr. Brindle was born Feb. 12, 1918, to Edward and Edith McCoy Brindle. When he was a young boy, his
family moved to Columbia City. He graduated from Columbia City High School and received his college degree from Purdue University. He did post-graduate work at the University of California at Berkley.

After completing his education, Mr. Brindle moved to Richmond, Ind. in April 1942, married Barbara Meyers of Columbia City.

During World War II, he served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. After being discharged from the Navy, he returned to Richmond, where he was employed by the Avco Manufacturing Company. In 1975 he transferred to the Chamberlain Manufacturing Company.

Mr. Brindle was affiliated with the Lutheran Church, was a member of the Elks Lodge in Waterloo and the Richmond American Legion Post.

The surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara; a son, David Brindle of Fountain City, Ind.; a daughter Nancy Brindle of Marshalltown, Iowa; and a granddaughter, Ruth Marie Brindle.
