Treva Merle Wolfe, age 95, of Columbia City, Ind. passed away at 11:28 a.m Monday, July 25, 2011 at her home. Born September 12, 1915 in Columbia City, Ind., she was the daughter of Oscar Earl and Alice Marie (Billman) Julian.

She attended West Ward Elementary School, graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1934 and completed her education with Industrial Management Engineering Training.

On September 14, 1935 she married Lawrence Ernest Wolfe in Columbia City. A former employee of Blue Bell, Inc., she began working September 1, 1934 and retired in October, 1982 after 48 years of service.

Her husband was also employed at Blue Bell and in 1948 they traveled to Arab, Alabama to start their first Blue Bell plant and continued on to Ada, Oklahoma, Warsaw and Nappanee, IN and ended in Belgium before Mr. Wolfe passed away in 1963.

Following his death, she continued the same responsibilities in North Carolina, South Africa, Ireland, Canada, Scotland and Belgium. Treva traveled in the United States, Canada, most of Europe and in parts of Africa, but she always maintained her home in Columbia Township, Whitley County. She was known by many in the local area because of her love for hats.

She was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church, its Chancel Choir, Finance Committee, Administrative Council, United Methodist Women's Society, Bond Committee, Secretary of Church Bible Study group and is a former teacher of one of the church's study classes. She was also very active with Arthur Murray Dance Studios where she took classes twice a week and participated in many competitions.

Survivors include nephews, Michael (Nancy) Crampton, Ken (Dorie) Crampton and niece, Treasa Crampton all of Columbia City, nephews, Dennis (Fran) Crampton of San Diego, Calif. and Will Matheney of Washington, and niece, Noreen (Glen) Kemery of Playadel Rey, Calif. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Anna Imes, Bessie Matheny and Dorothy Crampton, and brothers, James and Paul Julian.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2011 from 4 -8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held Friday, July 29, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. with one hour of calling prior to service at Columbia City United Methodist Church and Pastor David Arnold officiating. Burial will follow at South Park (Annex) Cemetery, Columbia City. Memorial bequests may be given in Mrs. Wolfe's memory to Columbia City United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
