She was a member of Trinity English Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Robert E. Baals of Fort Wayne; son, Jim (Gloria) Baals of Fort Wayne; daughter, Linda Karn of Fort Wayne; sister, Gayle Schinbeckler of Columbia City; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchidlren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.

Preferred memorials to Firefigher's Museum or Alzheimer's Association.
