HOWARD "DICK" PFEIFFER, 77, of Decatur, died Monday, May 7, 2007, at his residence. Born Dec. 12, 1929, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Howard W. Pfeiffer and Rose J. Mason

He married Millie L. (Heising) Evans on Feb. 24, 1978.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Decatur, American Legion Post 43, Moose Lodge 1311, and U.A.W.; was an avid trap shooter and avid hunter. He retired in 1983 from International Harvester, Fort Wayne after 25 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are his wife, Millie L. Pfeiffer of Decatur; three stepsons, Dan (Carla) Evans, Don Evans and Dave Evans, all of Decatur; two stepdaughters, Diane Evans of Greenville, Ohio and Mrs. Jeff (Dee) Coyne of Decatur; one brother, Mason George "Sonny" Pfeiffer of Presky Isle, Mich.; one sister, Gail Faulkner of Columbia City; one sister-in-law, Anita Pfeiffer of Columbia City; 11 step grandchildren; and eight step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Nopsker; a son, Richard Pfeiffer; two brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday at Haggard & Sefton Funeral Home, Decatur, with visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Laura Sherwood officiating. Visitation also from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with a Moose memorial service at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial in Decatur Cemetery.
