FAY ESTHER HILL, 92, of Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, died Monday morning, June 25, 2007 at her home.

She was born October 30, 1914 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa a daughter of Harry and Edith (Palmer) Osborn. As a young girl her family moved to Etna. With the exception of her senior year at North Webster High School, she attended Columbia City High School.

On February 23, 1937 she was united in marriage to Donald E. Hill. They made their first home in Smith Township, Whitley County until 1941 when they purchased a farm in Thorncreek Township. Mr. Hill died December 25, 1986.

A homemaker, she was employed at Blue Bell before her marriage.

She was a member of West Point Trinity United Methodist Church, Clover Leaf Club, Lakeview Club, Friendly Neighbors Ladies Aide and Thorncreek Township Volunteer Firefighters Auxiliary.

Surviving relatives include two sons, James L. (Marie) Hill of Fort Wayne and Roger L. Hill of Columbia City; a daughter, Nancy (Robin) Polt of Tucson, Arizona; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Kearnes of Fort Wayne.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, David E. Hill and Max E. Hill; and three brothers, Don, Grant and Carl.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2007 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Karen Biddle and Rev. Orlo Hibbs officiating. The burial will be in Stough Cemetery. The visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
