Janice was killed in a car accident near the intersection of U.S. 30 and I-69, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Her funeral was by Hollingsworth Memorial Chapel with Rev. Graham L. Kleespie, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, conducting the servies. Burial was in Greenhill cemetery. Janice's obituary was on the front page of Columbia City Commerical Mail June 4, 1962. It reads in part:

Killed at 7:20 p.m. Saturday three miles north of Fort Wayne on U.S. 30 and 33 on a temporary highway route at the intersection with Interstate 69 was Mrs. Janice E. Goble, R. 7, wife of Richard A. Goble, while serious injury resulted to Mrs. Barbara Jean Nelson Litherland, 29, R. 6, daughter of Mrs. Elsie Ward, who was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Fort Wayne with a fractured pelvis, multiple head and left hand injuries, and internal injuries.

Mrs. Goble was a passenger in the 1960 Volkswagen driven by Mrs. Litherland....died of a broken neck en route to Parkview Hospital.

Mrs. Goble was employed at the Magnavox Company in Fort Wayne. She was a native of Wharton, W. Va., born Feb. 9, 1937 to James M. Lockard, now living at Churubusco R. 2, and Mrs. Reba Hogge Lockard Rogers, now a resident of Fort Wayne.

On April 10, 1954 she was married at Jeffersonville to Richard A. Goble, Fort Wayne native. Their married life had been spent in this area. Mrs. Goble was a graduate of Ravens-Croft Beauty College, Fort Wayne. The Gobles lived in Lake township, Allen county.

Surviving besides the husband are two sons, Richard Wayne and Clint Allen Goble, both at home; a daughter, Valeria Jean, also at home; the parents; a brother, McClellan Lockard, North Manchester; two sisters, Mrs. Helena Bills of Fort Wayne and Mrs. Delores Rammel of Albuquerque, N.M.; a half-brother, James William Lockard of Churubusco; stepmother, Mrs. Betty Langohr Lockard, Churubusco R. 2; stepfather, Vernon Rogers of Fort Wayne; the great-grandmother, Mrs. Elizabeth Elam, Danville, W. Va.
