Diane Kay Thompson, age 54, died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Columbia City, Whitley County, IN on July 14, 1953 to Ernest Wilson and Helen A. (Redman) Rumsyre.

She was reared in Washington Township and graduated with the Class of 1971 from Columbia City Joint High School. She married Robert M. Thompson on July 18, 1970 at Washington Center United Methodist Church, rural Whitley County.

She first worked at Bond Flex Company as a spray room operator for many years and currently was employed at Dexter Axle, Albion, IN as a machine operator for the past 5 years. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and found her most joy within her family.

She is survived by 3 children, Robert Micheal (Brenda) Thompson, South Whitley, IN, Chad David (Tabitha) Thompson, Albion, IN and Amber Kay (Matthew) Joley, Fort Wayne, IN; 9 grandchildren; 1 brother, Larry W. (Sandy) Rumsyre,  Columbia City, IN; 2 sisters, Elaine A. (Ralph) Burns, Columbia City, IN and her twin, Liane F. (Larry) Creech, Columbia City, IN and her former husband, Robert M. Thompson, Fort Wayne, IN. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest W. and Helen A. Rumsyre and 1 infant brother, David Allen Rumsyre.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, IN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 31, 2007 with Pastor Dale Moser, of Gospel Land Christian Center, officiating. Burial will follow at Nolt Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorial bequests may be given in Mrs. Thompson's memory to American Cancer Society, % Breast Cancer Research. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
