Roy Alan Johnson, 57, of Kendallville died Thursday, April 29, 2010, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne with his family at his side. He had been ill for one week.

Mr. Johnson had lived in Kendallville, for seven years, coming from Butler. He worked at Quick Tanks in Kendallville.

He was a volunteer pack leader for Cub Scouts Troop 3157 in Kendallville, and attended Bridgeway Evangelical Church in Kendallville.

He enjoyed fishing, camping being outdoors and loved to read.

He was born Nov. 29, 1952, in Warsaw to Billy and Sandra (McPherson) Johnson.

Surviving are his mother, Sandra Johnson of Syracuse; a daughter, Amanda Johnson of Kendallville; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Heather Johnson of Warsaw; six grandchildren, Teryn Allen, Kristen Johnson, Kayla Johnson, Caleb Hecke, Sarah Johnson and Samuel Johnson; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kellie and Glen Laughlin of New Paris and Jan Monnier of Warsaw; a brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Terrie Johnson of Churubusco; and his significant other, Cindy Johnson of Kendallville.

He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Johnson, and a niece, Nicole Johnson.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Jeff Wolheter of Bridgeway Evangelical Church officiating.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to Bridgeway Evangelical Church or Cub Scout Troop 3157.
