Notes:	Rex Eugene Gordon, 22, was found fatally shot in his bedroom at the home of his parents, about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 1975, by his mother. She had called an ambulance which took him to Whitley County Hospital and from there he was transferred to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne where he died about an hour later in the emergency room of the hospital. There was evidence the investigating officers said that he had been cleaning the weapon. Whether or not the wound was accidental or self-inflicted was not determined. Rex E. Gordon was born on Oct. 23, 1952, a son of Leonard and Florence (Collar) Gordon. He resided with his parents on Business 30 W in Westgate subdivision. Rex graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1971. He worked in the office and parts department of MacAlister Machinery Co, Inc., 2418 Coliseum Blvd Fort Wayne and was well known for his ability to restore automobiles. He was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge. Surviving besides the parents are two sisters; Mrs. Dale (Sharon) Coffelt of Union Township and Mrs. Carol Nix of Columbia City; one brother, Wayne of Columbia City; five nieces and two nephews. Calling will be after 10 a.m. Friday at the Hollingsworth Memorial Chapel where the Rev. Edward Vaughn will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday.
