Notes:	Rick was diagnosed with cancer in April 2013 and passed away August 18, 2013. At his request, there was no obituary, viewing or funeral. His widow Nanci sent the following notice of his death: "It is with profound sadness accompanied by a small dose of relief for him that I report Rick Carpenter's passing away at 8:06 PM on Sunday night, August 18, 2013. Because he had asked to be moved from the hospital to hospice on Saturday, Rick was comfortable and pain free when his soul left his body. I was holding Rick's hand while his best friend of thirty years and my most recently widowed and supportive friend waited outside the bedroom door. Rick smiled the same beautiful smile that beguiled me the day that I met him more than 25 years ago, I said good bye to him and he was gone." At Rick's request, a celebration of his life party was held August 24, 2013.
