Doris A. Ivy, 63, of South Whitley, IN passed away at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, December 24, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on October 17, 1950 in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of Walter M. and Hilda C.(Witte) Bruner.

She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1968. On November 4, 1972 she married Edward "Coop" Ivy Sr.

She first worked at Chamberlain Products in South Whitley from 1968 till 1975. From 1975 until 1985 she worked at Starlite and retired from Larwill Products in 2009.

Doris was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in rural Columbia City. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid softball player and coached for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Coop; daughter, Clara Myers of South Whitley; son, Edward "Cooper" (Misty) Ivy Jr. of Columbia City; twin sister, Delores "Dee" Gaylord of Warsaw; brothers, Robert (Janice) Bruner of Mississippi, James (Sue) Bruner of Liberty Mills and Melvin Bruner of Pierceton; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Albert.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the funeral home with Certified Funeral Celebrant Sharon Brockhaus officiating. Burial will follow at South Park (Annex) Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Ivy's memory to Riley's Children Hospital.
