Notes:	Judith Day Songer, 74, of Rogersville, Missouri passed away, Saturday, January 1, 2022, of complications of dementia. She was born July 27, 1947, a daughter of Dr. Frank M. and Helen B. (Day) Thompson. Judie spent her school years at Marshall Memorial in Columbia City, Indiana and a year at Columbia Township Elementary School. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in Columbia City with the Class of 1965. She was united in marriage to Ronald Songer, in June 1965 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He preceded her in death, on May 24, 2019. The family moved to Springfield, Missouri in 1971 when Ron was hired by GE in Springfield. In 1981 Ron and Judie built a house in the woods in Rogersville, Missouri, which included a studio above the garage for Judie. Judie was a Claims Processor with The Travelers Insurance Company. She also worked in the Administrative Services Dept. for a supply company. Then she made a complete change and went back to school and got her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Missouri State in December 1995 and became an RN. Later she was the RN Program Coordinator for Stroke Center since its inception until her retirement. She liked to travel around the country with her husband, spend time at the lake and attend their grandsons’ ball games whenever possible. They were avid Missouri State basketball junkies with season tickets at their girls’ alumni. She is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Ann Kelly and husband Mike and Dawn Marie Newberry and husband Darrell; five grandchildren, Ryan, Claire and Elizabeth Kelly and Garrett and Hayden Newberry; four sisters, Cathey Bubanas, Susan (William) Penney, Leila Plew and Lora York; and a brother, Ray Thompson. Besides her husband, Judie was preceded in death by her parents & a sister Shirley Thompson; her step mother Elizabeth Phend Thompson & a step-brother, Chris Phend Thompson. Arrangements are being made by J.D. Lee and Sons Funeral Home of Rogersville, Missouri. Judie and her husband, Ron Songer will be buried in El Paso County, Colorado later this spring.
