Warren Charles Murphy passed away on March 29, 2012 at 7:35 a.m. at Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Peru.

He was born Sept. 21, 1945 to William Arthur and Marjorie Aletha Gambee Murphy (both deceased). Warren has five sisters: Billie Jean deceased), Alice Mae (deceased), Charlotte Rosetta “Rosie” Flora and husband Ronald Flora, Ellen Louise Blakey and husband Jim Blakey, Anna Marie Broomfield and husband Danny Broomfield.

Warren grew up in Peru, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for 10-1/2 years as a mechanic on naval ships. [Machinist's Mate 1st Class Petty Officer during Vietnam.]

He married Lynn Balderston in 1968 and they had two children, Cindy (Murphy) Spangle and Warren D. Murphy and spouse Megan Murphy, both survive. He has four grandchildren, Ryan and Dannielle Murphy; David and spouse Ashley and Douglas Spangle.

He married Sandra Geiger in 2001.

Warren returned to Indiana after serving in the navy and resided in Kosciusko County. He held various positions of employment over the years. He furthered his education, attending ITT in Fort Wayne, graduating second in his class.

Warren was also a member of various clubs in Kosciusko County, including the Eagles, VFW and American Legion. Warren loved fishing local lakes and rivers. His grand prize fish was a northern pike. He was always fond of animals and loved dogs including the family mutt Sam. Warren was a great handy mechanic and was also good at woodworking.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday with a service following at the Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru. Burial will be at 1 p.m.
Monday, April 2, in the Marion National Cemetery, Marion. Military service by the Miami County Military Rites Team.

Love offerings may be made to the Warren Murphy family through the funeral home.
