RICHARD L. KILLIAN, 62, president of Killian Auto Salvage Inc., died at 4:24 p.m., Monday, November 13, 2006 at his home.

He was born April 16, 1944 in Fort Wayne, Indiana a son of Ralph P. and Mary E. (Bratt) Killian. A lifetime resident of Columbia Township, he was educated in the Columbia Township School and graduated with the class of 1962 from Columbia City High School. He also graduated from Miami Jacobs Business College. After completing his education, he joined his father in the operation of Killian & Sons Auto Parts.

His memberships include Columbia City Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks #1417.

Surviving relatives include a son, Eric (Rosalie) Killian of Columbia City; a step daughter, Jodie (Randy) Jordan of Columbia City; a step son, Josh (Dara) Moore of Lansing, Michigan; his companion, Dede Cole and her daughter, Emily Schilling, both of Columbia City; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Wood and Rebecca May, both of Columbia City; and a brother-in-law, Cleo Brown of Columbia City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald; and two sisters, Evelyn Brown and Annabelle Brown.

The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2006 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with Rev. Gene Rohrer officiating. The burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

An Elks twilight service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity or American Cancer Society.
