Margie J. Hollenbaugh, 68, of Columbia City, died Thursday morning, November 10, 2011 in the Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, following a brief illness.

She was born November 23, 1942 in Fort Wayne, Indiana a daughter of Robert and Lenore (Varner) Poffenberger. She graduated from Columbia City High School and attended Hillsdale College in Michigan.

On August 24, 1963 she was united in marriage to Jerald L. "Jerry" Hollenbaugh.

She worked as a teacher's aide at Marshall Middle School for 15 years.

Her memberships included St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Jerry; five children, Renee M. Wight, Columbia City, Timothy R.(Jennifer) Hollems, Muncie, Julie K.(Dave) Knox, Oskaloosa, IA, Chad E. Hollenbaugh, Akron, and Tony J.(Whitney) Hollenbaugh, Burlington, IA; grandchildren, Zachary, Samuel & Erin Wight, Cal Hollenbaugh. Parker and Willis Knox, Carter and Kendall Hollems; two sisters, Mary Ann Briggs of Ohio and Nancy Rosenberg of Colorado; and a brother, Alfred Poffenberger of Fort Wayne.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Poffenberger.

The funeral mass will be held at 10 am Monday at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 S. Line Street, Columbia City with Father Larry Kramer, the celebrant. The visitation will be 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Sunday at the Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City and one hour before the mass at the church. The burial will be in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
