John G. “Jack” Phillips III, 75, of Columbia City, died at 5:36 p.m. Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

He was born August 4, 1942 in Allen County, Indiana a son of John G. and Emma Jean (Young) Phillips Jr. His formative years were spent in Columbia City.

On November 6, 1964 he was united in marriage to Dianne R. Friedman. They always have made their home in Whitley County.

Jack began working as a journeyman and tool and die maker in 1960 at Columbia Die Mold later becoming Precision Plastics until 1988 when he became a partner at C & A Tool in Churubusco, retiring in 2000.

He was a member of Society of Plastic Engineers and served as past president.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 53 years, Dianne; two daughters, Ruby A. Phillips of Columbia City and Amy L. (Jeff) Brunner of Tri Lakes; four grandchildren, Trey Williamson, Austin Brunner, Tyler Brunner and Miranda Brunner; a great granddaughter, Reagen Brunner; three brothers, David Phillips of Thorndale, Pennsylvania, R. Dean Phillips of Columbia City and Wayne Phillips of Fort Wayne; and two sisters, Gloria Phillips of Madison, Indiana and Carolyn (John) Arnold of Defunjak, Florida.

A private graveside service will be held at Greenhill Cemetery.

Preferred memorials are to Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home.

Arrangements are entrusted to Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.

Wife Dee passed away July 31, 2020.
