Notes:	Dixie Rose Waterson, 83, of Columbia City, passed away peacefully at 9:15 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017 at her home. She was born February 28, 1934 in LaGrange County, Indiana a daughter of the late Frank C. and Hattie E. (Klingler) Gage. At the age of three, the family moved to Columbia City. She graduated from Columbia City High School in 1952. On July 23, 1954 she was united in marriage to Wilbur "Bill" C. Waterson. They have always made their home in Columbia City. Wilbur died July 15, 1998. A full-time homemaker, she also worked outside the home for Gates Title Company for about 5 years and Dr. Jules Heriter for about 5 years. After her children were raised, she worked for the Columbia Township Trustee's office. She was a 40 plus year member of Delta Theta Tau and the Old Settlers Day Registration Committee. Family was her priority, raising her children and later enjoying her grandchildren. She was an avid bridge player and 15 year member of the Tuesday morning bowling league. She enjoyed flower gardening and caring for her home. She was the master of her kitchen and fondly remembered for her home-cooked meals. She is survived by a daughter, Leslie E. Gamble, Columbia City; two sons, Mark (Rene) Waterson, Columbia City and Brian (Carrie) Waterson, Zionsville; grandchildren, Justin (Ashley) Waterson, Roanoke, Ashley (John) Sommer, Fort Wayne, Bethany (Mathew) Kendig, Huntington, Joseph (Krista Hasling) Gamble, Parker, CO, Brianna (Austin) England, Fort Wayne, Amber Waterson, Muncie and Sarah Waterson, Zionsville, 9 great grandchildren and a brother, Frank (Dorothy) Gage, Roanoke. She was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Richard, and Jack Gage and sisters, Virginia Firks, Linda Holm, Pauline Davis and a granddaughter, Julie Gamble. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Columbia City United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City and one hour prior to the service at the church. Preferred memorials are to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
