Husband's obituary:

Daniel L. Weiss, age 72, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2001 at St. Elizabeth Hospital following a lingering illness. He was born on February 9, 1929 in Appleton [Wisconsin], the son of the late Lee and Clara (Otto) Weiss.

He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On August 28, 1954 he married Jean Loe in Columbia City, Indiana. They spent most of their lives in the Appleton area. He retired as a mechanical engineer.

He is survived by his wife Jean of Appleton, his son Stephen (Wendy) Weiss of Janesville, his daughter and son Allison (Paul) Sippl of Appleton, and Gregory (Diane) Weiss all of Appleton, his two daughters Lori Weiss of Appleton, and Carol (Gerald) Smith of Menasha, his two sons Paul (Julie) Weiss of Menasha, and David (Stephanie) Weiss of Appleton; 15 grandchildren; his brother Gilbert (Virginia) Weiss of Appleton, his three sisters Loraine (Leonard) Menning of Appleton, Valeria House of Port Washington; Germaine Ritger of Appleton; a sister-in-law Amy Weiss of Appleton, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Christopher in infancy, and a brother Clement Weiss; two brothers-in-law Charles House and Edward Ritger.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at 11:00 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2331 East Lourdes Drive in Appleton with the Rev. Harry Berryman officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary Cemetery in Menasha. Friends may call at the Wichmann Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-8 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the mass. Parish prayer and scripture services will be conducted at 6:30 PM on Tuesday. A memorial fund is being established.
