Notes:

William (Bill) Edward Woodward, 79, of Niceville, Fla., passed away March 10, 2012, in Destin, Fla.

He was born in Detroit on July 14, 1932, but he was a Hoosier at heart. After finishing high school in Columbia City, Ind., Bill joined the Air Force. Skills learned in the service of our country led him to his career as a defense contractor with Hughes Aircraft Industries.

During his varied career, he worked with the Saudi Navy in Little Creek, Va., and with the U. S. Air Force at Seymour Johnson, where he worked on the F-4E Phantom. Locally, he was employed by Tybrin and Sentel.

Bill was an avid golfer and boating enthusiast. He served as Commodore of the Eglin Yacht Club and balanced his retirement years between the golf tee and his boat, "Tee for Two."

A happy, positive man with an engaging personality, Bill was well-liked by all whom he met and will be missed dearly by his family and many friends.

Bill is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sally; his daughter, Sue Picott, and her husband, Dan; son, Steve Woodward; granddaughter, Jennifer Redding; and great-granddaughter, Cassidy Bryce, all of Los Angeles. He is also survived by two sisters, Sue McMahan of Anderson, Ind., and Barbara Schweitzer of Fort Myers, Fla.

Any memorials may be made to Covenant Hospice of Niceville or any animal shelter in the area.
