Joseph R. Cramer, 77
March 20, 1929 - Sept. 22, 2006

Joseph R. Cramer, 77. of Columbia City, died at 9:06 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2006, at Parkview Whitley Hospital in Columbia City.

Born in Columbia City on March 20, 1929, a son of Alfred and Vivian (Herr) Cramer, he graduated from Columbia City High School, with the class of 1947.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1956, and was a member of Columbia City American Legion Post 98.

On March 9, 1951, he was united in marriage to Joycelin Ann Blue in Columbia City.

A lifelong Whitley County resident, he and his wife resided at Goose Lake since 1982.

He was employed for seven years in the maintenance department at United Technologies, retiring in 1991. He was a former heating and air conditioning tech for Redman Plumbing and Heating from 1979 to 1991.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joycelin; children, Vicky (James) Schrader of South Whitley; Julie Roberts of Evansville; Michael Cramer of Columbia City, and Terry Lockard of South Whitley; brothers Jack and Larry (Jane) Cramer, both of Fort Myers, Fla.; sisters, Jean Creech and Pat Cramer, both of Columbia City; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and a daughter, Joseph M. and Teresa Cramer.

Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. today at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home in Columbia City. A graveside service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bourbon, with Sharon Brockhaus and Eddie Beagles, certified funeral celebrants, officiating.

Memorial bequests may be given in memory of Mr. Cramer to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
