Notes:	Born in West Lafayette, Indiana to Harry & Alice (Blewitt) Travelbee. WW II vet. First marriage ended in divorce. Married for second time on May 12, 1973 in Lafayette, Indiana. Worked in furniture sales. Died at age 77 in LaPorte, Indiana of an intercranial bleed. Last residence was Walkerton, Indiana. Cremation arrangements handled by Ranells Funeral Home, Walkerton, Indiana. Smithsonian Wall of Honor Location: Foil: 7 Panel: 1 Column: 4 Line: 55 Wall of Honor Level:Air and Space Friend "Charles Blewett Travelbee joined the United States Air Force upon graduating from high school in Columbia City, Indiana in 1944. He was assigned to the 9th Air Force, 79th Fighter Group, 86th Fighter Squadron and served at the USAF field hospital in Ling, Austria, achieving the rank of PFC. He received his Honorable Discharge in 1947 and remained a member of the Air Force Reserve until 1957. He has been an ardent supporter of both military and civilian aviation and space exploration throughout his life."
