LOIS M. GREGG, 80, a resident of Columbia City, died at 3 a.m., Monday, July 17, 2006 at Miller's Merry Manor where she had been a resident since June 19th.

She was born September 28, 1925 in Columbia City a daughter of Esta and Rhea (Workman) Keirn. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City and she graduated from Columbia City High School. Class of 1943.

On June 5, 1943 she was united in marriage to Lewis E. Gregg. With the exception of three years spent in San Diego, California, they have always made their home in Columbia City. They moved to their home on North Line Street in 1962. Mr. Gregg died April 16, 2006.

For 22 years she served as an aide for Columbia City Joint High School, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she served as church secretary for six years, was co-coordinator of the food pantry for five years and participated in the church choir.

Surviving relatives include a daughter, Jane (Richard) Bentz of Kendallville; Jeffrey (Diana) Gregg of Crown Point; four grandchildren, Lindsay Bentz, Joshua Bentz, Anne Gregg and Aidan Gregg; a brother, Donald Keirn of Columbia City; and two half sisters, Nancy Knepple and Sally Willson, both of Columbia City.

The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church, 204 North Main Street, Columbia City with Rev. Dr. C. James Cress, church pastor, officiating. The burial will be in South Park Annex Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
