Notes:	Orpha L. Parkison, 88, formerly of Wolf Lake, died at 6:40 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Northridge Village Nursing and Rehabilitation in Albion where she had been a resident since October. She was born December 3, 1924 in Whitley County, Indiana a daughter of Ratio and Callie (Hertsel) Smith. She spent her formative years in Whitley County and graduated from Columbia City High School in 1942. During WWII, she was employed by General Electric, Fort Wayne. After which she was a full-time homemaker. On July 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to John Parkison. They made their home in Wolf Lake. Mr. Parkison died March 8, 1999. She belonged to VFW Post 4717, Wolf Lake and was the first president of the Auxiliary for four years. She is survived by a sister, Eloise Juillerat of Avilla and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Blanchard an d a brother, Lester Smith. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Thorn Cemetery, 350S and 650W Noble County. Arrangements are by Smith and Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Preferred memorials are to V.F.W. Post #4717 Wolf Lake.
