Neal T. Miller

A private funeral service will be held for Neal T. Miller, 83, Logansport, at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kroeger Funeral Home. A military graveside service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. He died at 5:43 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2007, in St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo.

Born Oct. 18, 1923, in Monon, he was the son of Chester and Pearl McConahay Miller, of Logansport. He was married Aug. 28, 1948, in Logansport, to Patricia Donley, who survives.

Mr. Miller served his country in Europe during World War II, receiving the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for heroic/meritorious achievement.

He graduated from Iowa State University in civil engineering in 1947 followed by a degree in architecture from Miami University of Ohio in Oxford in 1952. He was head of the firm Neal T. Miller, Architect, in Logansport. Examples of his work can be found throughout Ohio and Indiana. Local examples include Lincoln Middle School, ELCO Industries Precision Stamping Division, First Farmers Bank and Trust, All Saints Catholic School, Central Bank, Apostolic Lighthouse Church, the Monastery of Poor Claire's and Westside Baptist Church in Kokomo.

He was a member of the American Legion, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and subsequently All Saints Parish in Logansport for 60 years. He served these parishes in many capacities, including a Boy Scout Leader for many years, for which he received the St. George Award from the Diocese of Lafayette.

Neal maintained a life-long interest in aviation and small plane engineering and was a NASCAR fan.

Also surviving are one son, Gary Miller; daughters, Pamela Sample and her husband, Samuel, and Tamara Puzzella and her husband, Gary; five grandchildren, Brad Sample, Alison Sample, Loren Sample, Jennifer Walker and her husband, Dustin, and Christopher Murray and his fianc?, Megan Michaels; and one great-grandchild, Kaia Murray.

One brother, Carl Miller, and one sister, Ruth Cotter, preceded in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Parish, Logansport.
