Gayle E. Schinbeckler, age 92, of Columbia City, IN passed away at 10:44 a.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at her home. Born November 12, 1920 in Hope, KS, she was the daughter of Gustave H. and Sarah E. (Longbine) Brumbaugh.

At age 14, while in the 7th grade, she and her family moved from Kansas to Whitley County. She graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1938.

On December 24, 1939, she married Marshall C. Schinbeckler at First Church of God, Columbia City. She worked for 10 years at First Church of God Nursery School and 10 years at Columbia Products Weatherhead and Spiegel Catalog Store, Columbia City. She was a member of First Church of God, Columbia City.

Survivors include her nephew and nieces, James (Gloria) Baals and Linda Karn of Fort Wayne and Sydney (Steven) Campbell of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marshall C. Schinbeckler, children, Michael and Marsha C. Schinbeckler and sisters, Phyllis Baals and Sally Fretz.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 7, 2012 from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the funeral home with Pastor Curtiss Johnson officiating. Burial at South Park (Annex) Cemetery, Columbia City.

Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Schinbeckler's memory to Whitley County Humane Society, Columbia City. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
